Wings of Desire

The stars pierce the sky,
Shining onto your hair,
Clipped wings with ambition to fly,
For they once took you anywhere.

Sit on a far off hill,
To watch the lights of the city,
You your side I fill,
Cause compared to your smile nothing is quite as pretty.

Sit there watching your usual poses,
As your voice soothes my ears,
A melodic bed of roses,
Blanketed in since dry tears.

Your words still enchant the air,
In perfect harmony they flow,
The way the sun glimmers in your hair,
Makes me never want to go.

But most of all,
It is how you make me smile,
When I just want to hide and bawl,
You make me want to stay a while.

Now you fly again,
Fly even higher,
Together we float into the wind,
On the wings of desire.
