A Distant Glacier

I will never learn,
That history is bound to repeat.
This past in which I yearn,
In the invisible we meet.

In these webs you weave,
I'm caught, gasping for air,
Your words fail to deceive,
And yet I still get trapped in your snare.

I dream so hard,
Of what could never be,
I let down my guard,
And suffer at my own decree,

That I believe,
With the curse I hold of memory,
I will never truly breathe,
For you will never come for me.

No signs of love here,
I'd be happy with just an ember,
Here I face my fear,
Will you remember?

That the surface shines,
While the inside rots,
My mind defines,
My heart clots.

I dream so hard,
Of what could never be,
I let down my guard,
And suffer at my own decree,

That I believe,
With the curse I hold of memory,
I will never truly breathe,
For you will never come for me.

Lost in the cadence,
Of your heart pounding away
Blinded by your radiance,
Revealing my inner decay.

You're a reminder of,
How I reach too far,
How you will never love,
How we will never know who we truly are.

I dream so hard,
Of what could never be,
I let down my guard,
And suffer at my own decree,

That I believe,
With the curse I hold of memory,
I will never truly breathe,
For you will never come for me.

I don't think I can ever face her,
I would never know what to say,
I am but a distant glacier,
Slowly melting away.
